Douglas Edward is a festival award-winning composer and classically trained Violinist and Pianist. He received an award for Artistic Excellence in "Best Impact of Music in a Feature Film" from the Park City Film Music Festival, an award for "Best Movie Soundtrack" from the Bare Bones International Film Festival, and an award for "Best Film Score" from the Moondance International Film Festival. In addition to playing the Violin and Piano, Douglas also performs on the Viola, Cello, and Guitar. He has a degree in Music Composition with extensive credits in Theory, Accompanying, Choir, Orchestration, and New Music. Douglas possesses an impassioned musical writing style, an eclectic blend of electronic with acoustic instruments, and emotive orchestral timbres that help in producing the best scores possible for all types of filmmakers. |
Douglas draws from his live experience, having performed shows with many bands and artists including John Price, Calhoun, Flickerstick, and The Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash at various venues such as Trees, the Hard Rock Cafe, House of Blues, Granada Theater, Curtain Club, Nokia Live, and a number of outdoor music festivals including the Voodoo Music Festival in New Orleans. Douglas has opened up for national acts including Cake, Collective Soul, Erykah Badu, Wyclef Jean, the Reverend Horton Heat, Mars Volta, Old 97's, the Dashboard Confessional, R.E.M., the Stone Temple Pilots, and Nine Inch Nails. Douglas also draws on his studio experience, appearing on many recordings with groups such as Alan, The Black Tie Dynasty, Brasco, Smile Smile, The February Chorus, and Clinic. He has recorded with producer/engineer Keith Cleversley (Flaming Lips, HUM, Mercury Rev, Verve), David Castell (Blue October, Burden Brothers, Course of Empire, Deep Blue Something), Grammy nominated producer/engineer John Congleton (Modest Mouse, Polyphonic Spree, Explosions in the Sky), and Grammy Award-winning producer/engineer Stuart Sikes (White Stripes, the Walkmen, Jets to Brazil, Cat Power). Douglas had string arrangements and performances air on many radio stations and TV shows including NBC's Chuck. Douglas currently writes music for media and performs as a professional musician. |
