Douglas Edward is a festival award-winning composer and classically trained Violinist and Pianist. He received an award for Artistic Excellence in "Best Impact of Music in a Feature Film" from the Park City Film Music Festival, an award for "Best Movie Soundtrack" from the Bare Bones International Film Festival, and an award for "Best Film Score" from the Moondance International Film Festival. In addition to playing the Violin and Piano, Douglas also performs on the Viola, Cello, and Guitar. He has a degree in Music Composition and Theory with extensive credits in Accompanying, Choir, Orchestration, and New Music. Douglas possesses an impassioned musical writing style, an eclectic blend of electronic with acoustic instruments, and emotive orchestral timbres that help in producing the best scores possible for all types of filmmakers. |
Douglas has scored many productions, including Kerry Valderrama's "Garrison" (winner of seven festival awards and co-starring Elizabeth Ingalls from Star Trek), Pablo Veliz's "The Boys of Ghost Town" (co-starring Danny Trejo from Desperado / From Dusk Till Dawn and Pedro Castaneda who was nominated for best supporting actor at the Independent Spirit Awards), Robert Paschall Jr's "The Locker" (co-starring Farah White from Miss Congeniality and produced by Gary Brown from Prison Break), Benjamin Wilbank's "Night Crawlers" (co-starring Joey Greco from Cheaters and Mathew Greer from No Country for Old Men), Mike Norris's "Maggie's Passage" (co-starring Mike Norris from Walker, Texas Ranger and Janine Turner from Friday Night Lights and Cliffhanger), and "Southern Comforts" (produced by Richard Allen who was the Head Writer for NBC's Days of Our Lives and is a two time Emmy Award-winning Associate Writer for CBS's As the World Turns). Douglas draws from his live experience, having performed hundreds of shows with many bands and artists including Brandin Lea, John Price, Calhoun, and The Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash at various Dallas venues such as Trees, the Hard Rock Cafe, House of Blues, Granada Theater, Curtain Club, Nokia Live, and a number of outdoor music festivals including the Voodoo Music Festival in New Orleans. Douglas has opened up for national acts including Cake, Collective Soul, Erykah Badu, Wyclef Jean, the Reverend Horton Heat, Mars Volta, Old 97's, the Dashboard Confessional, R.E.M., the Stone Temple Pilots, and Nine Inch Nails. Douglas also draws on his studio experience, appearing on many recordings as Violinist, Violist, Cellist, and Pianist on film scores, TV commercials, and albums with groups such as Alan, The Black Tie Dynasty, Brasco, Smile Smile, The February Chorus, and Flickerstick. He has recorded with producer/engineer Keith Cleversley (Flaming Lips, HUM, Mercury Rev, Verve), David Castell (Blue October, Burden Brothers, Course of Empire, Deep Blue Something), Grammy nominated producer/engineer John Congleton (Modest Mouse, Polyphonic Spree, Explosions in the Sky), and Grammy Award-winning producer/engineer Stuart Sikes (White Stripes, the Walkmen, Jets to Brazil, Cat Power). Douglas had string arrangements and performances air on many radio stations and TV shows including NBC's Chuck. Douglas currently writes music for media and performs as a professional musician. |
